It’s important to know when the highest percentage of your audience is actually online and listening so that when you decide to share your content via your social media platforms you will get maximum exposure.

Here’s something interesting to note, 50% of the US Population is in the Eastern Time Zone and the Eastern & Central Time Zones combined represent almost 80% of the US Population.  Naturally you will want to post at times reflective of those time zones.

According to industry expert Hubspot, the best time to Tweet is 5PM EST and the best tweeting frequency is and CTR (click through rate) will be achieved if you Tweet 1-4 times per hour and again between 4-5PM.   The best days to Tweet are midweek (Wednesdays) and Weekends.  There are spikes in the day that occur around Noon and 6PM.

Facebook has some equally interesting statistics.  Best day to share on Facebook is Saturday, with the best time being Noon.  There is a tendency to spike again after 7PM.  The data indicates that about .05 posts per day or 1 post every two days will achieve the most LIKES.

I would also note that we all have different markets and to track your own followers is critical to your success.  Understanding your own metric reports from Twitter and Facebook will save you time and money in the long run.
